Chicken Rearing in Uganda

The team at the Nsimbe Transit Home in Uganda has recently invested in a small flock of chickens. They hope the hens will start laying soon which will provide the children with extra nutrients when eggs are introduced to their diet.

They're even growing maize on site to feed the birds so the yolks will be even more tasty.

What's more, if they have surplus produce, they'll be able to sell them locally, with all funds raised invested into the Nsimbe site.

Plus (this really is the project that keeps on giving!) the children who stay at Nsimbe will learn about raising and caring for chickens, so the older ones in particular will take a skill with them when they leave.

SAFE Uganda has plans for even more developments as the year goes on so watch this space for even more growth...!
