Give Up, Give Back during Lent
While you're giving something up this Lent, why not give a little something back to African Children’s Fund at the same time?
We’ve set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £100 for each of the 6 weeks (or thereabouts!) of Lent. If you’re giving something up this year, will you help us reach our goal?
We’ve even crunched some numbers on the average prices of popular items to give up, so you don’t have to:
Coffee - £3.47 per cup
Beer - £4.83 per pint
Chocolate - £1.65 per bar
Crisps - £1.10 per packet
Wine - £5.17 per glass
Fizzy drinks - £1.90 per litre
Even if you were to donate a small amount of what you will save during the 6 weeks of Lent, your kindness could have a sizeable impact:
1 coffee per week: £20.82 = 231 mugs of porridge
1 pint of beer per week: £28.98 = stationery for 5 classrooms
2 bars of chocolate per week: £19.80 = sanitary towels for 4 girls for 1 month
2 packets of crisps per week: £13.20 = 146 mugs of porridge
1 glass of wine per week: £31.02 = welcome packs for 2 children at the Nsimbe Transit Home
1 bottle of fizzy drink per week: £11.40 = sanitary towels for 2 girls for 1 month
Even seemingly small donations can make a big difference in helping children in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe go to school, rather than working, scavenging or begging on the streets for food. By giving back just a small amount of what you're giving up, you will help a child born into poverty improve their opportunities for a more prosperous future.
Thank you very much for your kindness.
