New lockdown in Kenya
We're sending our best wishes to our friends, partners, families and students in Kenya as Kiambu County - where the projects we support run - is subject to new lockdown restrictions as of midnight last Friday. It is one of five counties in the country to have lockdown restrictions re-imposed following a spike in Coronavirus cases.
Sadly, all physical learning has once again been suspended (with the exception of candidates sitting their KCPE exams) until lockdown restrictions are lifted.
During the last 10-month-long lockdown, families suffered food shortages and children returned to school with the early effects of malnutrition. We hope this new lockdown results in a rapid reduction of cases so schools can reopen quickly after the Easter holidays.
