On 15th June, Appleford is hosting a special country fair to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the opening of Brunel’s railway line from Didcot to Oxford. Appleford 175 is the village’s contribution to the anniversary celebrations.
We’re very pleased to have been invited to hold a stall at the Fete where we will be selling an array of records, from the 50s to the 00s, including pop, rock, soul, classical, soundtracks, jazz and much more!
The Fete is free to enter and they also have a host of events to keep children and families occupied, including:
Fairground rides
Face painting
Brunel stove pipe hat making competition!
Weaving workshops
Model railway building
Dog show
Archery
As well as our record stall, there will be other stalls selling pottery, dog accessories, toys and craft furnishings, among others.
There are also plenty of food and drink options with a barbecue, sausage sizzle, Indian snacks and pizzas to whet your appetite and local beer, teas and coffees to quench your thirst!
Transport
The event organisers have asked visitors to leave their cars at home if possible as there are only limited parking spaces on Appleford Fete ground. A train service will be in operation to Appleford Station from Didcot and Oxford, and the Fete ground is only a 4 minute walk from the station. There will also be a special hourly bus service from 10am between Appleford, Didcot, Long Wittenham, Clifton Hampden, Culham, Abingdon and Radley.
More information is available from the Appleford Family Fete website. We look forward to seeing you there!
